Do you know anyone who would like to join The Igloo Choir?

I hope this finds you well!

Life has been very changeable for us all of late, and now is a great time to join The Igloo Choir if you have been thinking about it. We are starting some new material and it’s a great time to jump in. 

What we are looking for
3 Leads – Specifically we are looking for 3 leads – is a lead is not not a soloist. One of our sections is called ‘leads’. All of the sections are challenging, singing a combination of tune and harmony and covering a wider range than a traditional SATB choir. However, ‘leads’ sit roughly just below the soprano range for much of the time and sing a lot of melody. 
2 Basses – we have some lovely chaps in our choir and one or two more who are young at heart, playful and happy to give it a go would be very welcome. 

About the choir
We are an adults only, small and friendly group of currently 15 singers (maximum of 20), so you will be a big fish in a small pond in this choir. Our style is broadly upbeat ‘acoustic pop’, and we write a lot of our own material, so there are creative workshops you can get involved with, and no previous experience is required. We have just started learning Something Inside So Strong by Labbi Siffre – a choir classic. 
We perform at a variety of charity and community events throughout the year, and have a lovely Christmas repertoire as well. Age ranges from mid 30s to retirement plus but all members are young at heart. 

No previous singing experience is required, but team spirit, willingness to apply yourself and a good sense of humour is a must. 🙂 

We have continued meeting via zoom and outdoors when permitted during lockdown, and have enjoyed learning a couple of new songs, distance recording and making videos for some of our previous recordings whilst online. See a screenshot above from filming the video for our song The Season Song.  

We are continuing to follow safety guidelines and are only singing outdoors, topping up with zoom rehearsals. We meet twice monthly on Monday nights 8-10pm at the latest (currently online) and one Saturday afternoon a month 1.30-5.30pm. 

Taster
