The ‘Cultural Revolution’ of the 60s gave rise to huge changes for all aspects of popular culture. In response to the Vietnam War, the Flower Power movement, began in the US, spread to the UK and throughout the Western World. This revolutionised a generation’s right to freedom of speech, and self expression, of which music was a huge part.
‘Trendsetters’ such as The Beatles and the Rolling Stones emerged, the art of the singer-songwriter was heralded by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, and political movement was brought to the people through songwriters such as Bob Dylan. Today, we are left with the legacy to perform, create and enjoy any type of music we desire.
This show does not seek to endorse any particular set of ideals, merely celebrate the legacy we are left with due to the impact music had on our culture at that time. Songs in this show are inspired by that time, and also by modern artists who have been inspired by that time.
Feel free to come in Free Spirit Hippie Dress – we’d love to see you there!
