We are particularly looking for a couple of people who would be interested in joining our Baritone Ukulele Section so do please get in touch if you’re interested in learning how to play. \nOnline Sessions \nDuring lockdown we have \n\nlearned new songs\nhad online jam sessions\nmade music videos like this\nworked on remote recording projects\n\nThere is still plenty to do to keep busy and connected to your band mates. \nWhen it is safe to do so we have \n\nhad jam nights and rehearsals in the car park\,\nsmall group sessions and section practices (ie: guitars only/ ukulele only)\nhad recording sessions in the studio\n\nSo you are continuing to develop your skills and contribute to the band sound. \nSupporting our community \nOrdinarily\, we play at a variety of community and charity events throughout the year. 2020 saw us continue to support our local community. We offer music videos and online streaming for charity fundraisers and people living in residential care. This is not designed to overwhelm you with loads more things you can’t do very well\, but to nurture your ability to actually play a variety of recognisable tunes and enjoy them. \nThis 6 session course is a follow on group for guitarists who have covered the basics of open chords and basic strumming; a perfect follow on from our beginner guitar course\, or for people who have covered the basics at home or in private lessons. DESCRIPTION:Whilst all adult learners are welcome\, this new group is for retirees who have tinkered with a bit of ukulele\, guitar or singing and would like to get together in an informal fashion to play with others with the view to improving on their instrument. \nThese sessions will feel like jam sessions\, but supervised by an experienced tutor who can share hints\, tips and advice as we go along. \n“Being in a group makes you play through your mistakes and spend less time on things you’ve done wrong” Jolyn \nBy playing with other people\, individual players improve their sense of timing\, widen their chord knowledge\, and share in the joy of making music with other people. \nThese sessions are focused on learning through playing songs\, rather than formal class structure. \nAll music will be supplied. Suitable for improver level and above. \nMembership to this group will be £25 a month in the future\, however this taster session is offered at £12.50 to see if you like it!

SUMMARY:Songwriting Workshop (1/2 day) (adults)
DESCRIPTION:Songwriting is a very fulfilling and cathartic activity\, and you do not need to be a musical genius to get those benefits.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have space for 5 people for this workshop in the following format. \n1-2pm – workshop with tutor in our outdoor space (please dress appropriately! It’s waterproof but may be chilly! Please bring face coverings if you can) \n2-4pm – each songwriter will have their own private space on site to write. Tutor will circulate to answer questions / give feedback / bring tea/coffee during this time. (One of these spaces is outdoors – please let us know if you are ok with this). Challenges and worksheets are available to help with this section if you would like guidance. \n4-5pm – song-sharing workshop – each member will present the afternoon’s ideas to the rest of the group for everyone to discuss and give feedback. \nNo previous experience necessary\, just willingness to give it a go! \n
