Mark’s Top is Still Spinning

“Well for me the ‘Top’ is still spinning with some gusto.  I’m still writing (haven’t really stopped) and am getting to the point where I’m beginning to have a little more confidence in what I’m doing musically.  I’m currently working on a collection for 2017 which I’m calling ‘Discovering The Doorway’.  I have some phone recordings (which I’ve tweaked in SONAR) on my Soundcloud and website.  I’m ever conscious that I haven’t been about at the Jam Sessions ( I still find performance daunting) but I have been working on new material (I’m constantly doing that).

The writing bug has definitely continued in earnest, sometimes evolving as poetry..  sometimes as song and sometimes.. well both.  My latest piece “StarLight Falls” started as a poem but was written so that it converted to song in an instant.

I found  a way of getting my work into print with self-publishing via Lulu, so I’ve been busy with songbooks too which are for sale. Now ok, no-ones likely to buy em except me, but that s fine because it?s just about having something to show for my efforts.  That fact that I get a great Print On Demand  store front service to buy from is a bonus.  Worth a look though for anyone looking for an economical method of getting their work into good looking print. Either as a memento or as a business opportunity

But this year I’m all about recording.  Yep recording my songs with some proper effort and then producing a songbook to accompany them.   I have myself a little ‘home studio’ space and all I need now is the mindfulness and spirit to get on with it.”
