Keeping Healthy Playing The Drums
Playing the drums is very physical, and keeping up health and fitness are paramount to being able to perform well. Here are some fitness tips for drummers
- Warm up and stretch – like any other physically strenuous activity, it’s best practice to prepare the body. Stretch out the biceps, triceps and roll the wrists to prepare them for a session.
- Posture – sitting well will enable drummers to be able to progress healthily on their instrument. Don’t slouch, keep the shoulders rolled back and down.
- Cardio – drumming can be extremely strenuous so engaging in any light cardiovascular exercise will benefit your playing, such as walking, cycling or swimming regularly.
