Songwriting Success 21/11/12
November 21, 2012Igloo music’s songwriting festival was a great success; the course took place at the Sustainability Centre near East Meon last Sunday, November 18th, where a diverse group of songwriters all came together to share a passion for writing, a place they could find harmony to progress ideas and emotion into song; time spent at the festival exhilarated writers into a flood of creativity.
“What an incredible day! Everyone who came, from songwriting newbies to more experienced musicians, produced some fantastic work.
The atmosphere was amazing and everyone got their creative juices flowing” said director of Igloo Music; Dielle Hannah who also ran the course.
The day consisted of classes, workshops and the opportunity to perform through ‘song sharing’.
Two Masterclasses were available on the day, the first offering lessons on using emotion effectively to express stories, constructing tunes and learning to free you from certain constraints. The second focused on using autobiography in writing, such as learning to use personal life experiences and to frame ideas in a particular way.
Workshops included personal writing time, a chance to think and reflect on what had been learnt in previous classes in a tranquil environment.
Song sharing was a great way to gain feedback and helpful suggestions from other songwriters as well as tutors that had all shared a day of inspirational fun together.
Richard Setford said “Had an amazing day yesterday with everyone from Igloo Music UK, It really was a life-changing, positive and inspiring day. Thank you all :o)” songwriting newbie and lead singer of The Crush.
