The Igloo Choir Welcomes New Members for a Summer of Singing and Joy
April 29, 2025The Igloo Choir regularly performs at community and charity events across Hampshire and West Sussex. They recently delighted audiences at the Fareham Bandstand and will be appearing at Fareham Live Café on 10th May.
A friendly and vibrant community choir based in Wickham, The Igloo Choir, is now welcoming new members, both men and women. Adults of all abilities are invited to join this lively group, which focuses on singing for pleasure, making new friends, and creating music together.
No auditions are required — just a love for music, a sense of humour and a willingness to have a go and learn. The choir takes the music seriously, but not themselves, creating a supportive and relaxed environment where everyone can shine as a “big fish in a small pond.” It’s a small group so every voice counts, and inexperienced singers are supported to learn everything they need to be able to participate fully.
Members enjoy singing acoustic pop-style songs, including original pieces written collaboratively, as well as well-known classics like ‘Something Inside So Strong’ by Labi Siffre and ‘Colours of the Wind’ from ‘Pocahontas’. You can hear examples at www.igloochoir.bandcamp.com.
The group also work together on musical arrangements and simple choreography, adding an engaging and personal touch to each performance.
New singers are invited to book a taster session at one of the choir’s open rehearsals in Wickham between now and the end of July. There are 6, on Tuesday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm.
