When is your energy best to record your voice-over?
January 5, 2017Some of the greatest advice ever given is ‘know thyself’.
Are you a lark or an owl?
Your natural rhythms will have an effect on your efficiency and effectiveness.
If you’re doing your own voice-over recordings, be considerate to yourself about when you feel most energised. It can be quite intense and requires a high level of concentration. You will sound more natural, make fewer mistakes, and need less post editing, by choosing a time of day that suits you.
If you’re a morning person, aim to book earlier sessions, and, likewise, for night-owls, don’t force yourself to do voice-over sessions too early. (Top tip – relying on coffee and other stimulants can give you ‘cotton mouth’ which doesn’t sound good! Stay well hydrated for the best concentration and sound).
Another consideration is day of the week. Some clients prefer their sessions to be on a weekend as they don’t feel the pressure of their working week. Others feel more refreshed on a monday, coming from a relaxing weekend.
Time and choice of day can have a huge impact on how much you can concentrate and therefore the quality of the end product. So, ‘know thyself’ and play to your strengths as much as possible.
Voice-over sessions are available during the daytimes, evenings and weekends, subject to availability.
